The Mainline Clones have been developed to provide you with a durable hookbait that can be fished over a bed of particles, matching them in both color and flavor.
As the name suggests, the main purpose of the clones is to 'clone' any particle or spod mix you are casting out and turn it into a hookbait that 'matches the hatch' and is much more practical to use than the particle itself. Especially as some particle baits are too small or too soft to actually use on your rigs, and certainly if you want confidence that your bait is still on the hair and working as it should - for longer periods - baits such as sweetcorn.
The Clones Barrel Wafters are available in four different flavors and although primarily designed to be used over particles, they have proven to be very successful in all fishing situations during testing.
Nutty Hemp:
Hemp is one of the biggest fish attractors and carp love this oily seed so much that when they're on your bait, you'll see streaks of oil on the surface! Hemp also has a visual appeal though, as this shiny dark brown/black seed stands out against the lake bed thanks to the white flecks that appear when the seed bursts open and starts to germinate. To mimic this not only in taste but also in appearance, the Clones Hemp Wafters are two-tone in dark black and slightly off-white.
Maple:
Maple peas are a bait that has largely fallen out of favor but have always been very effective and carp love these sweet, dark brown particles that give off an attractive cloud once they are soft cooked and full of flavor. The Clones Maple Wafters are brown and have that lovely distinctive maple flavor.
Sweetcorn:
Sweetcorn has been used as a carp bait since the 1970s and has contributed to countless carp catches over the years and remains one of the most effective carp baits today. The Clones Sweetcorn Wafters are bright yellow and have a nice corn flavor/smell.
Tiger Nut:
There's no denying that carp love tiger nuts! Their crunch and the sticky sugar that is created when they are prepared give this bait a unique, nutty flavor. The Clones Tiger Nut Wafters have an off-white color with darker spots and taste exactly like tiger nuts.
